This time of year is full of talk about giving thanks. And although I am sure there are many people who are truly thankful for a variety of things in their life, what does the whole picture of their life look like? What does the whole picture of your life, or my life look like in the midst of us saying what we are thankful for?

For each era, for each generation, each segment of people group, there is a version of the “real man”. For some, it is the farmer that can fix a fence, tractor, combine or anything else with just a pair of pliers. For others, it is the CEO of a Forbes 100 company. Some see those who could survive the wilderness with just a few items as real men, enter Bear Grylls.
Like many people, there are decisions that I have made in my life that I don’t necessarily like. These are decisions that I have made based more out of fear than based on wisdom. With every poor decision based on fear, my confidence in decision making dwindled to the point that I became fearful to make decisions.
It’s funny to me how my interest in cycling has somewhat mirrored my walk with the Lord. One has given me a healthy life and the other an eternal life. And as I learn more about the Tour, the more I see how we can learn from cyclists on the Tour de France for our walk together in our tour de la vie, or our tour of life.

So what is freedom? Freedom is changing from the bonds of sin which only desire to control you to taking ahold of the bonds of righteousness and Jesus who’s only desire is to lead you.
I have been through loss, I have been lost, and I have experienced awesome restoration. No matter where you find yourself today, this is the path that will guide you in love, in freedom and strengthen you for times to come.
